Hidden in the abstract details of the cushions are images of Elk Island National park. Not only is the National Park a close refuge for YEG locals to escape city life, but it's a vital part of the local environment. The park plays a key role in the conservation of Plains Bison. These majestic mammals roam freely in the park after nearly becoming extinct. Since becoming a national park, the Bison Conservation programme has grown to help areas across North America repopulate Bison in their original habitats. The park is open every single day of the year. In the winter you can hike, showshoe, or cross-county ski. The summer brings kayaks and canoes to the beautiful lake and mountain bikes to the paths.
