Since 2004, Rahim has played a crucial role in the development and success of Platinum Investments, acting as a leader in the organization. He has been a visionary behind the rapid growth and expansion of a company that started out as a small, family run, organization and transforming into one of Edmonton’s top hospitality companies.
When Rahim is not dedicating his time to the company, he is spending time with his wife and their two sons.
Sanjay Makwana brings more than 18 years of hospitality accounting experience, beginning his career at the Hilton Heathrow Airport location managing credit controls, accounts payable and payroll for 260 employees. In a short period of time, Sanjay grew to become a controller at the Thistle Group at the Heathrow Park Hotel managing all internal areas of accounting.
Sanjay is responsible for all accounting and revenue maximization initiatives for all of Platinum Investments’ real estate holdings ensuring all transactions are thoroughly managed.
Director of Human Resources for Platinum Investments Ltd.
I am a Certified Human Resources Professional with 14 years of human resource and management experience, with the last 7 years as Director of Human Resources managing a diverse multi-unit location, including the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel.
With my current position I have provided strategic leadership and direction, creating and overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive Human Resources program including the design and implementation of organizational culture, development and application of policies and processes, planning and execution of initiatives to attract, engage, retain, and develop staff. In addition, I have implemented a new Payroll and HRM system and I have designed a health and safety program that resulted in our COR certification.
When I am not at work, you can find me with my family, including my 9 younger siblings. (I often say I have been an HR Manager my whole life!) I love to explore and participate in as many festivities as possible throughout the year. When I am not out exploring you can find me hosting a game night! I am an avid board gamer and have collected over 75 board games.
Saman (Sam) Miranda
Director of Engineering for Platinum Investments Ltd.
In addition to his current role at the Renaissance Hotel, Sam will oversee all maintenance initiatives geared towards getting the hotel ready for operations.
Sam recently moved from the Edmonton Marriott River Cree Resort to the Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton West and now oversees engineering efforts in all Platinum Investments Ltd. properties.. He is a talented individual with a masters degree in Robotic Engineering and Automation and loves to be engaged in complex and critical engineering initiatives.
Dual General Manager of the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel and Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton West
With 20 years of experience in food and beverage, David Keam is a seasoned professional.
Bounding out of the frozen Saskatchewan plains in 1999, David joined Canadian Pacific Hotels in Lake Louise. There he held several positions including Chief Steward and Director of Banquets eventually winning hotel Leader of the Year. After a brief stop at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler as the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, he was back to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise as the Director of Conference Services.
2007 saw a lifelong goal reached when he was appointed the Director of Food and Beverage at the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis. Over the next four years he would overhaul the division, re-theming several of the restaurants and improving both service and profitability. With a keen eye for talented hospitality people, David takes special pleasure in recruiting inexperienced Associates and working with them to develop their potential.
2011 saw a move to Edmonton first as the General Manager of the Sawridge Inn Edmonton South and then, in 2012 to his first home at Platinum Investments as the General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton West. After a short stint back in Kananaskis in 2014, David rejoined Platinum Investments team in October 2014 as the General Manager of the Renaissance Edmonton Airport hotel. In July 2017, David was excited to accept the Dual General Manager role and make the Courtyard his home again while continuing to lead the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel.
David has a daughter who he proudly describes as his best friend.
